boAt Airdopes 393

About the Brand

boAt was founded in 2016 by Aman Gupta and Sameer Mehta. The founders wanted to be more approachable and create a lifestyle brand instead of an audio brand that would cater to millennials. boAt focuses on audio products like earbuds, headphones, earphones, and wireless speakers.

Here are some quick facts about boAt.

  • boAt has a 32.1% market share in the earwear category reported in Q3 2022.
  • boAt has a 41.7% market share in true wireless earphones (TWS).
  • They sell over 6,000 units every day.

Who are These Earbuds for?

boAt 393ANC earbuds are for anyone that wants to tune out the world with ANC and focus solely on their music. These are a great option if you want something to tune out sounds while you are working or studying. They also offer a higher decibel sound cancellation than other earbuds in the same price range.

Important Factors We Tested These Earbuds on

We tested these on a few important factors and will let you know what we found.

1. Design

Design

When it comes to design, you’ll see that their case is relatively simple, with a matte finish and a glossy panel running all the way through the sides. On the front, you’ll see boAt’s name, along with a small battery indicator light. You’ll find a reset button on the bottom and type c charging.

Overall, the case is small and can be easily carried around.

With the earbuds, you’ll get a step-shaped design, and are all in the same color. Their size isn’t big, and they are lightweight. They come with silicon buds and have a small logo on the side of both earbuds. The earbuds create a good suction and offer passive noise isolation even without ANC.

boAt Airdopes 393 ANC comes in 3 different color variants, white, black, and gray. We went with the classic black option.

2. Durability

Durability

The case has good magnets; there won’t be any chance of your earbuds falling off accidentally. The hinges used on the case aren’t strong and keep closing off on their own, something they should’ve worked on. The case felt slightly big but will still fit inside your pocket.

The earbuds come with IPX5 water and splash resistance. Their secure design won’t fall off your ears, even during heavy workouts. You can easily take them to the gym or outdoors.

3. Battery Backup

Battery Backup

I play a lot of mobile games and wanted earbuds that would last me a while without having to charge. With these boAt 393 ANC earbuds, you’ll easily get a battery backup of 5 to 6 hours from the earbuds and 26 – 30 hours with the case.

You can easily use them for long hours without worrying about charging.

I wanted to test them for an intense gaming session, and they lasted me 4 to 5 hours. They come with a 300 mAh battery on the case and a 40 mah battery on the earbuds. The battery is reasonably decent.

Using ANC will drain the battery faster, which is something to remember.

They have an added fast charging feature, giving you 45 hours of playtime with just 5 minutes of charging. The average charging time is also good as the case takes 2 hours to fully charge.

4. Functions and Connectivity

Functions and Connectivity

boAt ANC 393 come with Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity that will provide you a stable connection of up to 10 metres. Insta Wake n Pair technology also lets them connect to your phone as soon as you open the case.

They also have a lot of touch controls that make using these earbuds really convenient. The touch controls are as follows.

  • Single tap on any earbud to pause or play music.
  • Double-tap the right earbuds to play the next track.
  • Double-tap the left earbud to go back to the previous track.
  • Long press the left earbud to activate the voice assistant.
  • Long press the right earbud to activate ANC and ambient mode.
  • Tap three times on the left earbud to enter gaming mode.
  • Single tap on any earbud to accept calls.
  • Double tap on any earbud during calls to reject it.

You won’t get volume controls through these earbuds and will have to control them through your phone.

5. Sound Quality

Sound Quality

boAt 393 ANC earbuds come with 10 mm dynamic drivers and SBC codec support.

They come with 3 different modes. ANC works well and cancels sounds up to 32dB, which is better than other boat earbuds.

It cancels out all low-frequency environmental sounds such as air conditioners and fans. The faint sounds of people talking get through, but it’s not inconvenient.

Ambient mode retains some background noise, so you are still aware of your surroundings. If you’re in the office, you’ll still be able to know if someone is talking to you.

Their sound is pretty loud, so you don’t need to listen at higher volumes. With ANC, you can listen at even lower sounds. Even if you increase the sound, you won’t feel any distortion.

When it comes to sound quality, treble and vocals are great. The sound signature is excellent on these. The bass is good and punchy; it’s not boosted, just the right amount.

Gaming Experience

Latency is around 65 ms with the Beast mode; as the brand claimed, you won’t feel much lag. You’ll get great separation of left and right. You’ll know exactly what is happening in the game and where all the footsteps are coming from.

Calling Experience

boAt has used ENx technology for calling. These earbuds come with 4 microphones in total, with 2 on each earbud. Calling is good, but the mics pick up background noises.

6. Comfort

Comfort

Earbuds are lightweight; you can comfortably wear them for long hours. They can also be comfortably worn during workouts.

You won’t feel like you have anything on; they are that comfortable. You also get extra tips inside the box that you can use and adjust according to your liking.

What Sets boAt Airdopes 393 ANC Apart From Competitors?

boAt Airdopes 393 ANC can cancel higher sound ranges as they offer noise cancellation up to 32 dB. Most earbuds in this price range only feature noise cancellation up to 25 dB, so these earbuds are a step up in comparison. They also have a good combination of features and functions.

Should You Purchase boAt Airdopes 393 ANC?

If you want ANC at an affordable price, then we’d definitely recommend these to you. They are a solid pair of earbuds that will allow you to listen to your favourite music peacefully without interruption.

They are also comfortable, can be worn for long hours, and can be used for gaming and in the gym. They could be better when it comes to calling, but other than that, they are an overall good pair of earbuds.
