About the Brand

boAt was founded in 2014 and since then has taken over the Indian Market with various audio products. They aim to design affordable, durable, and fashionable products. boAt’s products are popular among users in different categories and now the brand has become a household name.

Who is This Product For?

These headphones are perfect for regular usage and people on the go, like students and working professionals.

If you have to travel for long hours and are outside most of the day, these headphones will be perfect for you.

You don’t have to worry about charging them constantly as they have one the best battery backups in the Market and will last you up to 70 hours. It is excellent for watching videos, listening to music, and taking calls on the go.

8 Important Factors We Tested The Headphones On

boAt promises a lot of features with these headphones, so it was essential to test them out and see if the Rockerz 450 pro does live up to them. The battery backup sounds fantastic, but it was also necessary to test the other features, such as their comfort level, durability, and performance in activities like calling and gaming.

We have tested these headphones out for a while and will let you know in detail how it performs across these different categories, so let’s find out.

1. Design

Design

Design is one of the standout features when it comes to these headphones. They have a trendy design with a metallic logo on both the ear cups and the brand’s name on the headband as you can see down below.

It comes with foldable ear cups, which makes it easy to carry around. The ear cups are also rotatable, and the headband can be adjusted so you can wear it according to your preference.

Rockerz 450 pro especially comes with loads of different color options and styles for you to choose from, so you can go with what looks best on you.

2. Durability

The build is made of good-quality plastic, and the headphones feel premium and durable. The housing is made of plastic and metal, and the ear cups use good rubberized cushion material.

As these headphones can’t be flexed because of the build, remember to use them carefully and not put undue pressure on them. If you use them carefully, they will last a long time.

3. Comfort

Comfort

The cushioning on the ear cups is excellent, but since these are on the ear, they are slightly smaller than over-the-ear headphones. This makes them press down on your ears and get uncomfortable, especially if you have bigger ears.

The padding on the ear cups is also slightly stiffer, which makes them less comfortable to use. They are okay for short usage, but you’ll start feeling discomfort after 1 to 2 hours of constant use.

We’d recommend taking breaks after some time of using these headphones, and you should be fine.

4. Battery Backup

The battery was something we were most excited to test out as boAt has made a lot of promises regarding its battery life, and we wanted to see if it actually lives up to them. boAt has used a 750 mah battery for these headphones which gives a backup of up to 70 hours when used on 60% volume.

I charged them before putting them to the test, and they took about 2 to 3 hours to fully charge, which is decent. It also supports ASAP charging, where you can get 10 hours of playback time in 10 minutes, which was a cool feature.

I started using them for an entire day for different tasks, and not only did they last me for the whole day, but there was also more than 50% charge left which was shocking. They also have a stand-by time of 500 – 600 hours.

If you’re considering these headphones for their battery life, they are superb in this category and we have zero complaints.

5. Sound Quality

Sound Quality

These headphones come with 40 mm moving coil drivers, perfect for creating good sound output. Listening to music with these is a good experience, and the sound quality is excellent. I listened to both bass and treble-heavy songs and there was no distortion of any kind.

If you’re a fan of action movies, then you’ll love them as they create an immersive experience and perfectly capture every sound.

However, as these are on-ear headphones, there’s an issue with sound leakage, and you’ll experience this if you go over 80%. However, on normal sound levels, they work fine, and you wouldn’t face any issues.

Call Quality

These headphones are decent when it comes to calling quality. We’ve used them at home, and they work fine, but taking calls in crowded places affects the quality, and it captures background noises.

Gaming Experience

If you’re someone who likes playing games, then you can easily consider these. They have a 25ms – 45 ms lag which is considered good for gaming and you won’t face any issues. If you use the aux cable, there won’t be any lags.

6. Features

  • These headphones come with voice assistance, so you can easily use Google Assistant or Siri.
  • It also comes with an IPX7 dust and water resistance. This means it’s perfect for taking to the gym and other outdoor activities.
  • There’s a 3.5 mm jack, and it also comes with a type C charging port which many of its competitors lack.
  • Buttons are placed on the right side of the headphones, and you can use them to take calls and control music. The placing is slightly odd as they are on the back and will take some time to get used to.
  • It has Bluetooth 5.0 and can be used up to 10 meters. It can also be connected to 2 devices at the same time.

7. Weight

Weight

boAt Rockerz 450 are really lightweight at 168 g, which is lighter than the average android smartphone. You’ll have no trouble wearing or carrying around these. At no point did I feel I was wearing something heavy while testing them out.

8. Price

They come at a retail price of 1999/- but you can always wait for sales and get them for a lower price. While the retail price is slightly higher, these headphones are a total steal if you can get them for less.

What Sets Rockerz 450 Pro Apart From Competitors?

What Sets Rockerz 450 Pro Apart From Competitors

These headphones’ battery backup is what sets them apart from all other headphones in their price range. Even products in the higher price range don’t offer a battery backup as good as these. These will easily last you for two days without having to charge them.

Other features that make them stand out are its premium design, type c port, compact design, and lightweight design, making it easy to carry around.

Previous Models – Rockerz 450 Vs Rockerz 450 Pro

boAt Rockerz 450 launched in 2019, and the boAt Rockerz 450 pro is a successor to them. Although there’s a Rs 500 price difference between them, some differences make 450 pro the better choice among the two.

Similarities

  • Build Quality and Sound output are almost the same.
  • While they might vary slightly in certain aspects, the build quality for both these headphones is similar, and no significant difference can be seen.

Differences

  • While 450 only has a battery backup of 15 hours, 450 pro has a much more powerful battery that lasts up to 70 hours.
  • The 450 pro has also upgraded the charging port to type C from the micro b USB connector that comes with 450 pro. This change was much-needed as type C is becoming more widely used.

Should You Purchase the boAt Rockerz 450 Pro?

Cons

  1. Comfort – The on ear style and stiff ear cups make them uncomfortable to wear for long hours.
  2. Durability over time – The stiff plastic build is of good quality but can be prone to breakage if not handled with care.
