Looking for a good pair of earbuds with a half in-ear design? Many people prefer this design because they tend to be more comfortable than the silicon earbuds inserted inside your ear.

But the problem is, there are only a few half in-ear earbuds in the market.

However, I’ve got the perfect product for you today. These earbuds are highly praised, and some of my viewers also requested that I review them.

I’ve got the Oppo Enco Air 2 for testing out and reviewing. Oppo was previously an Audio company, so their products are known for their excellent sound quality. This makes the stakes much higher.

I’ll also compare them to their newer version, Oppo Enco Air 3, and let you know which one you should go for.

Let’s get straight into the review.

Who is Oppo Enco Air 2 For?

Oppo Enco Air 2 are great earbuds for people who prefer the half in-ear design. Only a few options are available in the market, and these are great. They come with the signature Oppo Sound which sounds excellent.

The battery life is on the lower end so that these earbuds might be better suited to casual users. If you’re a heavy user, you might find yourself charging them often.

Important Factors We Tested Oppo Enco Air 2 on

Here are all the essential factors we tested Oppo Enco Air 2 on.

1. Design

Oppo Enco Air 2 Earbuds Design

Oppo Enco Air 2 has a minimalistic design. In fact, I liked them better than Oppo Enco Air 3. You’ll find a translucent jelly cover for your earbuds. There’s a battery indicator light on the front of the case and Oppo branding on the back. You’ll find a Type – C charging port at the bottom of the case.

The earbuds case is relatively compact and lightweight. I could easily fit them inside my pocket and carry them around. The plastic build quality is also good. The case has a matte finish which gives it a premium look even though they are affordable.

The only con with the case is that the magnet on the case isn’t that strong. The lid might open, and your earbuds risk falling out, so be careful.

The design of the earbuds is similar to Oppo Enco 3. You get a similar design and touch area. These are stem-shaped earbuds with a half in-ear design. They also come with clear left and right markings.

The design doesn’t offer sound isolation, so you can hear what is going on in the background.

Overall, the design is simplistic, so Oppo Enco Air 2 gets a thumbs up.

2. Durability

Oppo Enco Air 2 Earbuds Durability

With Oppo Enco Air 2, you’ll get an IPX4 water and sweat resistance rating. Although the brand says they are okay to take to the gym, I would not recommend that. They have a half in-ear design, which means they don’t have a secure fit.

They might fall out during heavy workouts. They are prone to water damage. If you need something for working out, the Oppo Enco Air 3 might be a better fit as they come with silicon buds.

I found the build quality to be quite sturdy.

3. Sound Quality

Sound Quality

Oppo Enco Air 2 comes with 13.4 mm sound drivers. I tested them out with many different things, including songs, movies, and gaming. The sound quality was excellent across all media.

Don’t expect a lot of bass from these headphones, as you’ll find better bass in earbuds with silicon tips. If you’re a casual music listener and you want something with elevated vocals, trebles, or mids, then these are a good option.

Their highs are good, but the lows are missing just because of the design of the earbuds. However, they still have great sound quality.

That is not usually a con and depends entirely on personal preference. A lot of people prefer this type of earbud design. If you like the half in-ear design, then you can definitely check them out. The sound quality was good for both music and multimedia use.

On the HeyMelody app, you’ll also access different presets like original sound, bass boosted, and clear vocals. I would recommend sticking to the original sound or clear vocals and staying away from the bass-boosted preset; it added extra bass effects that didn’t sound good.

On the app, you also get a game mode to turn on. When it comes to gaming, the latency was just right. I could not notice any lags. I did not test out any heavy-duty games, but these will be good for occasional gaming. My gaming experience was smooth, so you can easily do gaming on these.

4. Functions And Connectivity

Oppo Enco Air 2 Functions And Connectivity

Oppo Enco Air 2 has Bluetooth version 5.2 with a radius of up to 10 metres.

They have a relatively fast connection. They connect when you open the case and take out the earbuds. If you’re an Oppo user, you can connect to them directly. Oppo users also get access to an inbuilt app that lets you customise functions.

However, if you don’t have an Oppo phone, you can download the HeyMelody app. It will let you customise all the touch functions and edit them according to your preference.

The charging case comes with a 440 mah capacity battery, while the individual buds have a 27 mah battery each. With the case, you’ll get a battery backup of 24 hours, while on the buds alone, you’ll get a battery backup of around 4 to 5 hours. I tested the claim on the battery life by using them for a day, and the battery is true to the claim.

However, the charge felt a little less than other earbuds I’ve tested. If battery backup is an essential feature for you, then Oppo Enco Air 2 might not be the best option. I would recommend checking out boAt Nirvana Ion, which will easily last you a few days on a single charge.

They also have an AI call noise-cancelling feature for a better calling experience. I tested calling, and it worked decently. It cancelled a lot of background noise, and my voice was clear.

5. Value For Money

value for money

I’ve checked the price on Amazon, and they are currently selling at Rs 2499. However, when I purchased them, I was able to get them around Rs 1999. Their price tends to fluctuate, so you can still get them at a discount if you keep a lookout.

In my opinion, they are entirely worth it if you’re able to get them below Rs 2000. You should wait for them to go on sale before purchasing.

Enco Air 2 has a lot of similar features to Enco Air 3 but is cheaper in price. They also have a similar sound signature. They are also a great deal if you are not willing to spend extra money on Oppo Enco Air 3.

What Sets Oppo Enco Air 2 Apart From Competitors?

Oppo Enco Air 2 is a good choice for half-in ear design earbuds under Rs 2000. They combine comfort with excellent sound quality, all at an affordable price. There aren’t many options in the market with this particular design, and the Enco Air 2 is a good option.

Newest Models – Oppo Enco Air 2 Vs Oppo Enco Air 3

Oppo Enco Air 3 is the newer version of Oppo Enco Air 2. A lot of people recommend getting Enco Air 2 as they are more affordable. So, are both these earbuds really that similar?

There is a slight difference in design, and Oppo Enco Air 3 has a slightly elevated case design with a larger transparent panel. When it comes to the design of the earbuds, the design has remained the same. Oppo Enco Air 2 also has the same stem-shaped half in-ear design as seen on Enco Air 3.

Oppo has upgraded the sound drivers of Enco Air 3 from 12.4 mm to 13.4 mm drivers. There is only a slight difference in sound. The sound signature has mostly remained the same.

I’ve tested both earbuds out, and there’s only a minor difference. I would recommend getting Oppo Enco Air 2 since both earbuds sound similar and have no major differences.

Should You Purchase Oppo Enco Air 2?

Should You Purchase Oppo Enco Air 2

Yes, I would definitely recommend purchasing them. They are an excellent deal for the price. The half-in ear design provides good comfort, and you can easily wear these for long hours. The sound quality is also great. They are a really good pair of earbuds to grab under Rs 2000.
