Headphones Ranking – From Best to Worst
Now that you’ve gotten a brief overview of all the competing headphones, which is the best?
Let’s get into the rankings.
1. boAt Rockerz 550
boAt Rockerz 550 are popular for being over-the-ear. One look at their build and size of ear cups; you know these will be comfy. They also don’t miss out on style with a great textured matte design on the earcups.
Rockerz 550 are an all-rounder pair of headphones and are balanced in all the features, which is why they are on top of our list.
Sound Quality
They come with 50 mm moving coil drivers. In my experience, their sound was crystal clear throughout testing and their sound signature was perfect. They lack slightly in bass, but it was not that noticeable. They are good for gaming, music, and all kinds of audio.
Build Quality
They come with micro USB charging and 20 hours of playback time. We wanted to test their battery and were slightly disappointed to find they lasted only 16 hours. However, they’ll still last you 2 – 3 days of moderate use so you won’t face issues. You can use the AUX cable with them to use them for longer.
Comfort
They are comfortable to wear with excellent padding. You can adjust the headband according to your head shape. I wore them all day and didn’t feel like I had anything on.
Battery
They come with micro USB charging and 20 hours of playback time. We wanted to test their battery and were slightly disappointed to find they lasted only 16 hours. However, they’ll still last you 2 – 3 days of moderate use so you won’t face issues. You can use the AUX cable with them to use them for longer.
What Sets Them Apart
boAt Rockers 550 are a really comfy pair of headphones compared to their competitors. Other brands don’t focus on comfort even if they are making over-the-ear headphones.
boAt focused on giving good cushioning and padding to ensure maximum comfort with these. The ear cups are also large enough that they cover your ears.
When Should You Get Them
These are all rounder headphones with incredible sound quality and can be worn all day. If you wear headphones all day and want a comfy pair, then these are the headphones for you.
Pros
Cons
2. Boat Rockerz 450 Pro
boAt Rockerz 450 Pro is one of the most popular headphones on Amazon with over 1 Lakh reviews. They are a successor to the boAt Rockers 450. These headphones were launched in 2021 but are a customer favourite to this day, so we had to keep them on this list.
These were our favourites regarding sound quality, which is why they are high up on the list.
Boat Rockerz 450 Pro
- On-ear
- Battery of 70 hours
- ASAP charging
- IPX7 dust and water resistance
Sound Quality
We liked the bass on these even more than Infinity Glide 510, even though 510 have dual bass equalisers. Their sound is perfectly balanced and soothing to the ears. During testing, I listened to both bass and treble-heavy songs and there was no distortion of any kind. There is slight sound leakage with higher volumes.
The mic is suitable both for calls and gaming. During call testing it captured some background noise.
Build Quality
Feels premium, and they’ve used good quality plastic. They feel durable, and you won’t have to worry about replacing them. They can also be folded and used for traveling.
Keep in mind that they can’t be flexed because of the build so use them with care and don’t put undue pressure on them.
Comfort
You might experience some discomfort if you have bigger ears. Overall, the cushioning is good but because of the small size they tend to press down on your ears. While using them, we had to take breaks after 1 to 2 hours of usage.
However, they are lightweight, so you won’t feel their weight. The cushioning on the headband is good.
Battery Backup
They provide a battery backup of 70 hours; if you use them for casual use, they will easily last you an entire week. We used them for an entire day and they still had more than 50% charge left.
They also have type C charging and an ASAP charging feature that gives you 10 hours of battery life with just 10 minutes of charge.
What Sets Them Apart
They have the best sound quality out of all the headphones we tested. Their bass was even better than Glide 510 which comes with dual equalisers. They are foldable so they can be carried around easily, as opposed to bulkier headphones like Rockerz 550.
When Should You Get Them
If you want headphones with incredible sound experience, then these are for you. They also come with a powerful battery life and are foldable so you can easily travel with them.
Pros
Cons
3. Boult Probass Ranger
One look at the Boult Probass Ranger and we can say they are one of the most unique-looking headphones in the Indian Market. They come with powerful 50mm audio drivers and are considered good headphones for gaming.
The Boult Probass Ranger have excellent sound quality but are bulky headphones. This is why they are 3rd on our list.
Built Quality
Probass Ranger come with a metallic arch on the headband. The headband can be adjusted according to your head shape, but they’ve used a flimsy material inside. The design is bulky and has a high clamping force. You can’t wear them for long hours. During testing, we found that you can’t wear these for long hours.
Sound Quality
These have outstanding bass and treble, they handle sounds of all frequencies, and you’ll face no issues. We listened to a lot of bass-heavy sounds on them and loved the sound experience.
Gaming Experience
They are advertised as gaming headphones and they live up to the promise. They have 25 – 35 mm latency, which is considered good for gaming. During my testing, I found no issues with latency during gaming. You can use aux for an even better experience.
Battery Backup
We were disappointed with their battery. Probass Ranger gives a battery backup of 10 hours, so it’s low compared to other headphones in the range. The charging time is also longer at 3 hours. In our experience, they’ll work best as a secondary headphone.
What Sets Them Apart
They stand out from competitors because they are powerful headphones built for gaming. You won’t notice any latency issues and you can further use AUX for no lags.
When Should You Get Them
We would recommend getting them if you want a secondary pair of headphones. They have a good sound profile and low latency gaming. But they are bulky and come with low battery so you can’t use them as your daily driver.
Pros
Cons
4. Infinity Glide 510
Infinity Glide 510 are a standard recommendation when asking for good headphones under 2000 with a good sound profile. These headphones are also recommended for gym goers as they are lightweight, have a high clamping force so they won’t fall off during workouts, and have an IPX6 Rating.
The Infinity Glide 510 lacks in build quality and comfort, which has earned them the 4th spot.
Sound Quality
They come with 36 mm drivers. By default, the bass is high, so if you like bass-heavy sounds, you’ll like them. Glide 510 also has dual equalisers, which lets you adjust the bass level.
During testing, we noticed the bass is boosted even in normal mode. We can’t say the sound profile is balanced so consider these only if you can handle the extra bass.
Battery
The battery backup they give is 72 hours which should last 3 – 4 days on heavy usage and more than a week if you’re a casual user. Testing out the battery was important because these headphones come without an AUX.
When we used them for testing, they lasted 3 days of usage which was impressive. They also come with fast charging which is an added plus.
Build
The overall build quality is cheap when compared to other headphones on the list. The buttons feel flimsy, and so does the adjuster on the ear cup. They are on-ear headphones with a high clamping force. I couldn’t wear them for long as they got uncomfortable, I had to keep taking breaks.
However, they are light in weight and foldable. You can carry these around, and they also provide good sound quality. You’ll have to handle them with extra care because of the build.
What Sets Them Apart
They are great headphones for the gym. They are lightweight, come with an IPX6 rating and have a high clamping force. This ensures they won’t fall out during workouts.
When Should You Get Them
If you are looking for lightweight headphones you can carry around easily, these are a good option. They also come with deep bass mode which you’ll enjoy if you are a bass lover.
Pros
Cons
5. Melomane Melophone Opera
Melomane Melophone Opera are a standout pair because of their sleek metallic look. They are over-the-ear headphones with large cushioned ear cups that add comfort. These headphones are also foldable and come with their own travelling case.
Sound quality is one of the most important features when it comes to headphones. And that is precisely where these headphones lack and have earned them the last spot.
Sound Quality
They have an average sound quality that left us disappointed. You won’t feel the bass or the treble. The sound also gets unclear at some points, and you’ll get sound leakage at higher volumes. While testing them for calls, the sound came out muffled.
Features
They have a battery backup of 25 hours with micro USB charging. Their battery backup is decent but could have been better in our opinion.
One added feature is that they are foldable and come with a travelling case.
Build
When it comes to their build, they are over-the-ear headphones that are comfortable to wear and also give you passive noise isolation.
In our opinion, these are an excellent pair of headphones when it comes to look and feel. These will be an excellent gifting option and are suited for people who aren’t focused on sound quality and only want them for casual use.
What Sets Them Apart
These are incredibly stylish, foldable and even come with a travelling case. They are also comfortable so they are a great option when it comes to portability.
When Should You Get Them
If you are not too focused on sound quality, and want headphones you can easily carry around, these are great.
