boAt Immortal IM1000D vs EKSA E7000 FENRIR : 4 Factor Comparison
Here are all the important factors we tested boAt Immortal IM1000D and EKSA E7000 FENRIR on.
1. Design
Here is how the design differs in boAt Immoral 1000D and EKSA E7000 FENRIR.
boAt Immortal IM1000D
Right out of the box, you’ll find that the boAt Immortal IM-1000D has a good design, but it’s still classy enough to be used for everyday usage. boAt has kept the design minimal and strayed away from designs you’d typically see on gaming headphones. These have a classic appeal.
They retain some gaming headphones elements like the ear cups and the bright red braided cables. You’ll find boAt’s logo in the center of the ear cups, with LED lights that light up when you plug in these headphones.
The braided wire is 2.3 meters long, and a similar wire is used to attach the earcups to the headband. You also get a controller attached to the cable to control the mic, LED light, playback, and volume.
The headband has metal inside, which makes it durable for long-term use. This also makes it reasonably easy to adjust the clamping force.
The earcups and headband have soft padding, making these headphones really comfortable. I wore them for long hours for gaming and felt no discomfort.
They also come with a detachable mic which is great for convenience. You can remove it when it’s not in use and attach it when needed.
EKSA E7000 FENRIR
EKSA E7000 FENRIR differs from boAt Immortal and has a design you’d typically see with gaming headphones. It doesn’t feature RGB lights, but it does have green lights, and the ears cups have a werewolf design.
E7000 FENRIR comes in an entirely plastic body. It also has adjusters for the headband, which is made of plastic but has an extra layer of aluminum plating. Both the headband and ear cups come with soft cushioning. These headphones have a slightly bulkier form factor than boAt Immortal but are still comfortable.
They have slightly larger ear cups than boAt Immortal, so they sit comfortably on top of your ears without pressing down. Their clamping force is also less.
Although their mic is not detachable, you still have the option to move it around, which is nice. You can easily move it away when you’re not using it.
These headphones also have a braided cable long enough to connect to any gaming console. These come with a USB A connector along with a 3.5 mm jack which you can use to connect to your phone.
However, the green light only turns on when the USB A is plugged in. You’ll also find the controllers for playback and volume on the headphones. This lets you conveniently change them according to preference. It also gives you a mute and unmute button.
Who Wins?
Both headphones have a great design, in my opinion. However, boAt takes the win because of its versatility. It has a minimal design that can be used for both gaming and everyday use.
2. Durability and Comfort
Let’s compare the build quality and comfort on boAt Immortal IM1000D and EKSA E7000 FENRIR.
boAt Immortal IM1000D
In my experience, boAt Immortal IM1000D was slightly heavier than EKSA because of the metal material used in the headband. However, the overall build quality feels better. boAt has used a sturdy thick plastic material in the build.
You’ll find cushioning and padding on the ear cups that make these comfortable to wear. The ear cups are also large, so your ears won’t press down.
EKSA E7000 FENRIR
EKSA E7000 FENRIR is slightly lighter when compared to boAt immortal. This could be because of the lightweight material they have used. Their build quality isn’t as sturdy as boAt, but the lighter weight makes these comfy to have on.
When it comes to comfort, these headphones have way more padding compared to boAt. This makes them highly comfortable to wear. They also have bigger ear cups which give your ears more room to breathe and won’t press down.
Overall, they are really comfy. I found myself gravitating towards these more for longer gaming sessions.
Who Wins?
EKSA E7000 FENRIR. Although boAt has better build quality, EKSA is way lighter with good padding, which makes it more comfortable, so that is where my vote went.
3. Sound Quality
Sound Quality is one of the most essential factors in a headphone. Let’s see which one performs better.
boAt Immortal IM1000D
boAt has really good sound quality on Immortal 1000D. It has excellent bass and treble. I especially liked the treble on them since picking up details during gaming is essential.
These were great for gaming. I got proper left and right separation and could hear everything going around me. The gaming experience definitely felt enhanced.
In my experience, the only con was that their volume was on the lower side. The volume can be enhanced through the software so it can be fixed.
EKSA E7000 FENRIR
EKSA E7000 FENRIR has powerful 50 mm drivers, similar to boAt immortal IM1000D. However, their sound quality left me feeling underwhelmed. I tested them out and could not find any stand-out features.
They also don’t feature 7.1 surround sound like a lot of headphones. They come with stereo sound instead.
Their volume is on the lower end, but they don’t have any software support like boAt to fix this issue.
The sound quality is just average. The bass isn’t as punchy as I had expected. However, you do get to hear all of the footsteps inside the game because the treble works well. I was also able to differentiate where all the sounds were coming from.
These headphones can be connected to your phone, and the experience there is much better.
I can’t recommend EKSA E7000 FENRIR for serious gamers or multimedia usage. If you like to play casual games or games on your phone, these could be a decent option.
Who Wins?
boAt Immortal has better sound quality and can also be used for some multimedia usage. This is why they win this round.
4. Price and Value
Let’s see if the current price of these headphones is justified based on the value they provide.
boAt Immortal IM1000D
One added feature that comes with IM1000D that you wouldn’t find with Eksa Fenrir is the added software support. You get access to both Dolby Atmos Support and boAt plugin labs. This helps you play around with the setting and customize functions and sound according to your preference.
I checked boAt Immortal IM1000D’s price on Amazon, and they are currently around Rs 2699. I got them at under Rs 2000, a slightly lower price. The price has hiked up recently, and I feel it’s somewhat high.
Although boAt Immortal IM1000D are good headphones that perform well, I don’t think they justify this high price point. In previous posts, I tested out Redgear Cosmo 7.1 and Cosmic Byte Oberon. In my opinion, they are a much better value for money and come at a much more reasonable price.
EKSA E7000 FENRIR
EKSA E7000 FENRIR has no software support, which is a big con. This does not let you adjust the sound quality or the volume that initially came with these headphones.
I checked their price on Amazon, and they are currently priced at around Rs 2190. They do not justify this price as there are better headphones at a cheaper price.
I would only recommend getting these headphones if you really like the design and would be okay with the average sound quality.
Who Wins?
boAt has better sound quality and customized options, making them the better option. However, they don’t justify the current price, so wait for it to drop before purchasing.
